Svetlana Kundish was born in the Ukraine in 1982. From the age of seven years on, she went to musical school. In 1995, her family moved to Israel where Svetlana started voice and piano classes at the Ironi Arts High School in Tel Aviv. Later, Professor Ella Akritova became her most important voice teacher. In 2001, she also took master classes with Nehama Lifshitz on Yiddish music. 2003 - 2007 she completed her studies in Musicology at Tel Aviv University. In 2000 – 2007, Svetlana Kundish gave a multitude of classical and Yiddish concerts in Israel and abroad before she decided to continue her studies with Professor Yuri Kokozeyl at the Prayner Conservatory for Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna from 2007 – 2011. In December 2008, she won the first prize at the “Golden Chanukkia” singing competition in Berlin. Besides further appearances at home and abroad she teaches master classes and guest-lectures at Yiddish music festivals. She was a member of the Vienna Jewish Choir, directed by Roman Grinberg and appeared as soloist at “Voice of Ashkenaz”, “Kol Isha”, “Wien-Erfurt Klezmerbrücke” and other projects and bands that deal with the whole variety of Jewish music. In 2012, she started her studies at the Abraham Geiger College Cantorial School.
